Blair Zaye

Blair is an artist/curator originally from New Zealand with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Auckland
University, New Zealand and a Masters in Fine Art at Chelsea College Of Arts, based in London
since 2008. Exhibited extensively all over the world from the UK to the US, Germany, Russia and
New Zealand.
As multidisciplinary artist working in paintings, video, performance and immersive installation and
interactive technologies, Blair’s work attempts to interrogate a wide range of contexts; art history,
counter culture, urban art and post-graffiti, technology, consciousness, phenomenology, the
transcendental and the nature of realities.
While working concurrently on tangible outcomes within theatre carpentry, art curation and event
production, recent times have seen his practice integrate digital media and motion graphics to
introduce ways of translating physiological data into computer based generative imagery,
subsequently using projections and video mapping to bring the work further into the physical
realm for full immersion and interactivity.

Visceral Waves

An international collaboration between artists: scenographer Asia Gulcz from Poland, visual artist Blair Zaye from New Zealand and  a guest, music composer Fernando Antonio dos Santos from Portugal.

We performed for the first time at Newspeak House (Bethnal Green, London, UK) as part of the 'Trajectory Theatre' in 2019.

We create an interactive live performance-based on sensor technology ( EEG for reading participants brainwaves, Kinect motion sensors), sensory experience: deep listening to musical composition, intuitive self-expression, computer software     Touchdesigner ( a program that can read the data, convert it into color number values which in turn changes the hue of the projected image), projection mapping (Isadora) for a real-time flow and transformation of digital input: image, sound, and light.
